PEBA (Polyether Block Amide) is a high-performance flexible material often called "Super TPU" because it combines the tough, chemical-resistant properties of nylon with the elastic bounce of rubber. Unlike standard flexible filaments that simply dampen impact, PEBA acts like a spring, storing energy and returning it with an instant "snap-back" effect. This energy return – often reaching up to 78-85% – makes it the go-to choice for dynamic parts like drone bumpers, robotic grippers, and high-performance athletic gear. Beyond its springy nature, PEBA is exceptionally lightweight, often weighing 15-20% less than standard TPU, which is critical for aerospace or wearable technology. It is also remarkably resilient in extreme conditions, maintaining its flexibility in freezing temperatures as low as -60 °C where other plastics would become brittle and snap. While it requires a bit more care to print than basic filaments, PEBA offers a professional-grade solution for functional parts that need to survive repeated stress, harsh chemicals, and intense impacts without losing their shape.
